Invite people outside of your team or people who don't have a Wire account to join a group conversation with a link. Team members can create guest rooms on desktop or from their mobile devices, and share the link with the person or group they want to collaborate with.
To add an extra layer of security, create the guest link with a password.
The guest can join the conversation on a desktop, but not on a mobile device.
Wire requires the latest version of Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Firefox (no private browsing).
On desktop (macOS, Windows, or on Wire for web)
Create the link with password
In the conversation list:
- Select the group conversation that you'd like to add a guest to.
- Select the conversation name at the top or the info button

- Make sure guests are allowed:
- Select Password secured:
- Select Create Link:
- Enter a password directly or select Generate Password:
- Select Copy Password and store it:
- Select Create Link:
- Share the link and the password with the people you want to add to the group conversation (for example via email or calendar invite). They need to enter the password before entering the guest room:
On mobile
In the conversation list:
- Select the group conversation.
- Select the group conversation again.
- Select Guests.
- Make sure the toggle is set to green/on.
- Select Create Link.
- Select Create Password Secured Link.
- Enter a password directly or select Generate Password.
- Select Create Link.
- You can now copy the link and share it, for example, via email or calendar invitation.
When your guest selects the link on a mobile device, they can either join the conversation in the app with their account directly or download the app.
When your guest selects the link on desktop, they can either join the conversation in the app with their account directly or in a browser or download the app.
If you invite people outside your team with the link, a banner at the top of the conversation will appear stating GUESTS ARE PRESENT.
People without a Wire account are automatically removed from the group conversation after 24 hours. The link will be valid until it's revoked. No one can join the conversation with the link as soon as the link is no longer valid.
