Use Drive in conversations

Add Shared Drive to a conversation

Enable participants to manage their documents and media files. Use folders, tags, and filters to work more efficiently. 

Info

  • Add Shared Drive while creating a new group conversation. You can’t change it later.
  • Self-deleting messages are off in Drive conversations.
  • Messages and calls are always end-to-end encrypted, whereas files and folders are secured in transit and encrypted at rest.
  • Federation is not working in Drive conversations.
  • Guests can join the conversation, but they are limited in file sharing.

On desktop (macOS and Windows) or on Wire for web

  1. Select the create a conversation button :
  2. Add a group name:

  3. Switch the toggle for Shared Drive on:

  4. Select Next.
  5. Select participants.
  6. Select Done.

 

On mobile

iOS 

  1. In the conversation list, select the add button :
  2. Add a group name.
  3. Switch the toggle for Shared Drive on.
  4. Select NEXT.
  5. Select participants. 
  6. Select DONE.

Android

  1. In the conversation list, select NEW.
  2. Select participants from the list or search for people.
  3. Select Continue.
  4. Add a group name.
  5. Select Continue.
  6. Switch the toggle for Shared Drive on.
  7. Select Create group.
