Federation – Classification levels

It is very important to know whether it is safe to discuss secret information in a conversation. The corresponding level of secrecy is shown to you on each device by banners in the user profiles and conversations.

Overview of the secrecy levels in conversations:

All participants belong to a classified backend At least 1 participant belongs to an unclassified backend
Security level: VS-NfD Security level: Unclassified

If you are part of a classified backend and are in a conversation with other users who are also part of a classified backend, you will see the Security level: VS-NfD banner in the conversation:

You will also see this banner in the user profiles of the participants:

If you are part of a classified backend and are in a conversation with other users who are not part of a classified backend, you will see the banner Security level: Unclassified in conversation:

In this case, you will also see the banner in the user profiles of the participants:

Federation___Security_level_Unclassified___profile.png

People who do not belong to a classified backend and are in a conversation with users from a classified backend will not see any indication of the classification level.
