Additional audio device for call ringing - for Windows application

I would like the Wire Windows app to have a feature that Skype does - the ability to specify a 3rd audio device as an additional device to play the ringtone when there is an incoming call in Wire.

This is useful, because if you want to use headphones or a telephony headset for hearing the other person during a call, you would not hear an incoming call unless you happened to have your headset on at the time.  If you can specify an additional audio device for ringing (incoming calls), as you can in Skype, then you could set this to be speakers attached to your PC or laptop, or built-in speakers.  This way you could hear an incoming call easily - even if you don't have your headphones or headset on.

Thanks

Simon

This is 100% exactly what I wish to have too. I don't know other OS but in Windows you can set a device for standard sound and another device for communications. So I thought that's easy: set the standard device to my monitor speakers and set the communication device to my headset. This way the ringing would be heard over the monitor speakers and the communication would be using the headset. Unfortunately Wire does not make use of this standard windows feature nor does it offer a feature to set a separate ringing device (just like Skype did). It would be great to have this feature somewhere in the future.

Great to hear from someone else who would appreciate this feature - Thanks A Stucki.

I am now using Wire on a daily basis for work (I am a self employed developer, working from home).  If my team member tries calling me, I cannot hear the ring tone - as it is coming out of the headphones I use for telephony, which are hung on a hook when I'm not using them.

I have had to resort to keep on changing the "Speakers" device, in the audio settings to my PC attached speakers, when I am not in a call - so I could hear if someone calls me.  When I am in a call, I have to then change the "Speakers" device in the audio settings to my headphones.  Then, after the call, I have to switch the audio out back to my PC speakers.  It's not a great user experience!

    Thanks

    Simon
